Decorating a Christmas tree doesn't have to be a stressful chore if you know how to do it correctly, to get the desired lush and full look.
The secret to having the prefect tree is in how you layer these the 'main ingredients' that form a Christmas tree:
1. The Lights
Start with the lights. Faceted glass bulbs is the best and will retract more light. Little lights can also work wonders when you layer several strands and complement them with reflective ornaments. The key here is to make the tree look brighter.
The best way to do it is to start from the inside out by stringing lights around the trunk and the branches. Then, wrap the lights around every major branch, moving from the trunk to the tip.
To achieve a refreshed look, try wrapping the outside of the tree using strands of colored lights to complement the 'backdrop' of clear lights . Mix and match until you get your desired result.
2. The Garlands
Next, drape the garlands. Start at the top, and work your way down, increasing the amount of garlands. If you're using thick ribbons, foil or paper garlands, wrap them loosely around the tree. When using small bead garlands, just hang them from one branch to another. It is recommended to use a variety of garlands with different sizes to avoid a crowded look.
3. The Ornaments
Hang your most favourite ornaments first, to make sure there's enough space to accomodate them. Next, hang the big ones, leaving some space in between each of them. Then, scatter the medium and sized ornaments to balance the look. For the finishing touch, add on some eye-catching ornaments from icicles to raindeer here and there. Also, don't forget to hang some ornaments closer to the trunk to give the tree some depth. |
